Hi, my name is Helen.

I am currently on placement at Horizon. I am extremely passionate about the role that counselling can have in a person’s mental health journey. Having experienced my own difficulties in the past, I understand first-hand the positive impact counselling can have, and how beneficial that can be long-term.

It is integral for someone wishing to pursue the help of counselling to feel comfortable and without judgment. It can feel very vulnerable to engage with someone new, especially when discussing personal issues. My approach to counselling is very person-centred, intending to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I will provide a space in which you can explore your thoughts openly, whilst offering tools to help you along the way.

I currently volunteer with the charity Jeremiah’s Journey, where I work with both children individually and in family group sessions, alongside other staff members. This has provided me with experience working with a range of people, at different ages, and various stages in their journey with mental health. Similarly, outside of counselling, I have also owned my own business for fourteen years, which has provided me with a broad range of knowledge on how to cater my approach to individual clients.

I have experience working with the following mental health topics:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Neurodivergence

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their guidelines on ethical practice to keep you safe and work within your best interests.
